Hi, I’m Kirstie Edwards. I’m married to Matt and we have a son James who is 2. I feel really lucky that I have a job that enables me to spend time with James while he is little. I enjoy taking him to music and dance sessions, toddler groups and meeting up with friends.
I am a portrait and wedding photographer, my business is called Kirstie Edwards Photography . My passion is capturing moments and creating memories for people. I have more recently been concentrating on business headshots and I particularly enjoy working with business people and feel that I can help them relax quickly and produce images that they like and that capture their personality in a short space of time. It also fits in really well with family life.
I have always enjoyed taking photographs but I decided to train professionally as a photographer after my husband and I were in a car accident in 2007. During my recovery, I took the opportunity and started taking family portraits for friends, this then developed into the occasional wedding and the business photography side has developed more recently. I really enjoy what I do and always feel honoured when clients choose me to shoot their family as it grows or their wedding or feel comfortable enough with me to photograph them for their website. I love photographing people!
My biggest challenge at the moment is fitting everything in! Juggling work with a toddler and everything else involved with running a home is very challenging. I also lack self confidence and still sometimes get nervous before a shoot. This is where I have found BizMums to be an amazing help to me.
I found out about BizMums through Facebook and saw there was an event happening locally which I decided to attend. I met Michelle and Stacey there and they were both very welcoming and friendly. I love the idea that I can bring James along with me to meetings, so I don’t need to find childcare for him in order to go networking. Everyone is in the same situation so they all understand and support each other with balancing work and family life. I have grown in confidence since joining and have met some really lovely people. The private Facebook group in particular I’ve found brilliant and a great way of getting to know other BizMums that I don’t bump into at meetings. A place to have a good old rant about business and life where everyone is supportive and encouraging.
I am host for the Nantwich group which starts in May and I’m looking forward to meeting more like minded women and helping them make connections. I love that there is no hard sell with BizMums meetings, we all get our turn to talk about what we do and then it is up to each of us to approach others as and when we are ready to use their products/services or recommend them to others.
